"Listen" is a collection of illustrated lyrical short stories, created by Blake Lavia, in which more-than-human species, ecosystems and entities share their struggle to thrive in a world that is being rapidly transformed by humans. The stories are told from the point of view of the more-than-human people who are the protagonists of each story. From fungi to Snow, from American eel to ragweed, each of the short stories is accompanied by a non-fiction section that adds context to the overall narrative.
While "Listen" shares the plight that these more-than-human-people are facing, it also reveals how each entity is working hard to heal the land and water they love. "Listen" also invites us, humans, to listen to all our neighbors, human and beyond, and become once again part of the immense tapestry of life that is Planet Earth.
Blake Lavia is in the process of searching for a publisher for this collection.
